Gin Blossoms

This summer I set out to design an one-of-a-kind polymer clay pendant. My drawing skills really came in handy.

I started with a sketch of a flower first. I wanted it to have lots of texture and depth, so I added the little petals in the center and leaves between each flower petal.

I sent my sketch to Mad About Molds. That was the first time I ever had a custom mold done. I usually make my own. The first mold they made was too flat. I told them I wanted the pendant to have a dome shape so I was surprised to see this flat (really flat) mold.  Jeannie was not happy.

It all worked out and the end result is smashing.

I like things that look vintage or aged. I make a lot of my art work that way, so it was just natural for me to make the pendants look that way.

Now it was time to play with them.  They can be paired with any type of bead or used as a bracelet focal. Some have two holes.

OMG!!!! You’re awesome, girl! Those Gin Blossoms look like they are from some old stucco decoration in an old building or something. And those pics with the matching beads are so beautiful.

I’m torn between the pea pod smoke and the honey blush, but they’re all really cool.
